Waterfall Country (or sometimes Waterfalls Country) is an English name often given to the Vale of Neath in South Wales. The tourist area around the head of the valley has an unusually large number of publicly accessible waterfalls.

The Elidir trail, which starts in the village to Pontneddfechan, is a walk in Waterfall Country that is home to several spectacular waterfalls. Two of these impressive falls include Sgwd Ddwli Isaf (Lower Gushing Falls) and Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf (Upper Gushing Falls). The easy, family-friendly Elidir trail walk has two spurs.

These are Sgwd Gwladys, Sgwd-y-Bedol, Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf and Sgwd Ddwli Ichaf. You can also visit Sgwd Einon Gam but this is not part of the official route and the path can be difficult in some places. It traces the River Neath and takes you past four waterfalls, beginning with the dramatic Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf (Upper Gushing Falls). The trail finishes at the village of Pontneddfechan. Waterfall #3 Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf. Translated to 'Upper gushing falls', this waterfall is wider than it is tall, falling five meters in a beautiful curtain-like fashion. You'll first approach the waterfall from below, however you can climb up and view the waterfall from the ledge above. To reach the top you can either climb up the rocky bank.

Not far beyond is the most spectacular, Sgwd Ddwli Isaf or Lower Gushing Falls, where the river drops about 30 feet into a briefly cliff-lined gorge, then in another quarter of a mile the trail arrives at Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf, Upper Gushing Falls, a broader, curtain-like waterfall above a large pool.

The first waterfall (Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf) is about 15 minutes down the trail. There is an optional short detour to see the impressive Sgwd Gwladus waterfall. You can turn around there or continue down to Pontneddfechan.
