St Albans Signal Box group unveil history panel at station
The St. Albans Signal Box Preservation Trust was established by volunteers to restore and preserve the St Albans South signal box as part of our railway and architectural heritage. There is ample parking and a glorious signalman's garden featuring a nice collection of signals. There are hands-on displays, a gift shop and friendly informative.

OPENED: 1892 CLOSED: 1979 Click or tap the images for enlarged views The signal box depicted here was the second at this location, opened in 1892 to replace the original 1877 structure which had only contained sixteen levers. The larger box was required in connection with the quadrupling of the Midland main line.
